I especially like this icon because of the way it depicts Jesus. Most icons of the baptism show him in extreme humility. That's good and important. But this one shows him striding out with confidence, eager and inspired to face the trials of the desert and the temptations. This icon contains all the traditional details (river god, etc.) but gives the baptism a fresh theological content. Also: extremely pleasing colors and surface.
