The latest addition to the many ways UMS is able to serve the faithful is our new partnership with the beautiful gifting of Michael Alevizakis. We offer this avenue for parishes who have the means to beautify their temples with the most exquisite traditional Byzantine Iconography.
ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael Alevyzakis was born in Rethymno, Crete, in 1966.
He has been involved in painting since 1984, with F. Theodosaki and T. Riga as his teachers. Ever since 1988 he has been professionally involved in the holy art of iconography, with D. Mourla, D. Tsianta and N. Vlachogianni as teachers.
Painting portable icons and wall paintings, he has worked in numerous churches, such as:
Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Caracas, Venezuela
Church of St Nektarios in Neo Irakleio, Attica, Greece
Church of St Demetrios Oplon in Kato Patisia, Athens, Greece
Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in Tourkovounia, Athens, Greece
Church of St Tryphon in Ano Glyfada, Attica, Greece
Since 1997, he runs his own workshop of Christian art, painting churches in Greece and abroad, such as:
Cathedral of St Ioannis the Precursor in Messini, Messinia, Greece
Church of the Resurrection in Kalamata, Messinia, Greece
Church of Sts Constantine and Helen in Androusa, Messinia, Greece
Church of the Holy Trinity in Aristomenis, Messinia, Greece
Church of St Paraskevi in Koropi
Church of St Riginos in Leivadia, Boeotia, Greece
Church of St Menas in Uganda
Church of St Lydia in Neos Voutzas, Attica, Greece

He is a member of the Panhellenic Association of Iconographers and of the Chamber of Fine Arts in Greece and he has taken part in many joint exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
